Conflict Resolution Procedures

The Darling Theatre Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to maintaining a collaborative, respectful, and safe environment for all participants, staff, creatives, and visitors. Conflicts or disputes are handled fairly, professionally, and transparently, with the goal of maintaining positive relationships and the integrity of our programs.

1. Scope

This procedure applies to:

  • Participants in classes, workshops, productions, or training programs

  • Staff, volunteers, contractors, and creatives

  • Parents, guardians, or carers interacting with the company

2. Addressing Conflicts

  • Conflicts should be raised promptly to prevent escalation.

  • Participants or staff can address conflicts by:

    • Speaking directly, respectfully, and calmly to the person involved (if appropriate)

    • Contacting a staff member or manager to mediate the situation

    • Submit details in writing to hello@thedarlingtheatrecompany.com

3. Mediation and Investigation

  • All disputes are reviewed confidentially and objectively.

  • Staff or management may:

    • Speak separately with all parties involved

    • Gather relevant information or documentation

    • Facilitate a mediated discussion to reach a resolution

  • Confidentiality is maintained at all times, with information shared only on a need-to-know basis.

4. Resolution Options

Depending on the nature of the conflict, outcomes may include:

  • Clarification, guidance, or coaching for all parties

  • Adjustments to schedules, roles, or responsibilities

  • Mediation or facilitated discussion

  • Formal warnings, suspension, or removal in cases of repeated or serious misconduct

  • Referral to external advisors if necessary

5. Follow-Up

  • Staff or management will check in with involved parties to ensure the resolution is effective.

  • Records of conflicts and outcomes are maintained confidentially for reference and continuous improvement.

6. Escalation

  • If a conflict cannot be resolved internally, it may be escalated to:

    • Senior management or the Board of Directors

    • External mediators or regulatory bodies, depending on the situation

  • Conflicts involving child safety will follow the Safeguarding Policy and legal reporting requirements.

7. Commitment to Respect

  • Retaliation against anyone raising a conflict in good faith is strictly prohibited.

  • The company promotes open communication, empathy, and understanding to maintain a positive and safe creative environment.
