Regulations and Policies
Welcome to the Darling Theatre Company’s Regulations and Policies.
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and professional environment where actors, creatives, audiences, volunteers, and supporters can thrive. This page outlines the principles, procedures, and standards that guide our company. We encourage all members of our community — students, ensemble actors, teaching artists, staff, and participants — to familiarise themselves with these policies.

OUR APPROACH
The Darling Theatre Company operates on the values of Dedication, Courage, Craft, Collaboration and Community. Our policies exist to uphold these values and ensure that our spaces — rehearsal rooms, classrooms, performance venues, and community events — remain safe, equitable, and creatively productive.
POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct outlines the behaviours expected of all actors, staff, creatives, and visitors. This includes respect for colleagues, commitment to safe working practices, and adherence to company values. The Code ensures that our rehearsal rooms remain professional, collaborative, and focused on craft.
Safeguarding Policy
We are committed to protecting the wellbeing of all participants, including young people and vulnerable adults. This policy sets out clear procedures for reporting concerns, maintaining safe working environments, and ensuring all teachers working with minors have appropriate checks.
Health and Safety Policy
We prioritise safe practice in every space we operate. This policy covers risk assessments, emergency procedures, safe rehearsal protocols, manual handling, and the proper use of props, costumes, and technical equipment.
Anti‑Bullying, Harassment, and Discrimination Policy
The Darling Theatre Company has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or discrimination. This policy outlines expectations for behaviour, grievance procedures, and steps for reporting concerns confidentially.
Privacy and Data Protection Policy
We protect your personal information in line with current privacy legislation. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and your rights regarding personal information — including enquiries, class applications, donations, and membership records.
Equal Opportunities Policy
We are committed to providing equal access to training and participation regardless of background, age, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, or socioeconomic circumstances. This policy sets out how we maintain fair, inclusive practices across our classes, productions, and community work.
Bookings, Refunds, and Cancellations Policy
This policy outlines our procedures for class bookings, payment, cancellations, refunds, and credits. It ensures clarity for actors and parents when enrolling in training or performance programs.
Complaints and Feedback Procedure
We encourage open communication and welcome feedback from all participants and community members. This document details the steps for submitting concerns or complaints, the process for review, and the timeframe for responses.
Child Safety and Youth Training Policy
For our children’s classes and youth productions, we maintain detailed guidelines on supervision, safeguarding, appropriate conduct, and communication with parents or guardians. This policy ensures a secure, supportive environment for young performers.
Environmental Sustainability Policy
The Darling Theatre Company is committed to responsible practices across productions, operations, and materials. This policy includes guidelines for recycling, energy usage, sustainable set and costume design, and minimising environmental impact in our spaces.
ACCESSIBILITY
We aim to ensure that our training, performances, and community events are as accessible as possible. If you have access requirements — physical, sensory, or otherwise — please contact us. We will work with you to make appropriate accommodations wherever feasible.
HOW WE REVIEW OUR POLICIES
Our policies are reviewed annually to ensure they reflect current best practice, legal standards, and the evolving needs of our company and community. Updated versions will always be published on this page.
