We are excited to announce that auditions are now open for The Darling Theatre Company’s upcoming season. This is your opportunity to join a passionate, performance‑driven ensemble committed to rigorous training and high‑quality productions for the Byron Shire community.
Audition Overview
This audition is for those applying to join one of our core training pathways, including the Darling Company Ensemble, Youth Acting Program, Film Class, or 1‑on‑1 coaching stream. The 8‑week ensemble program is an intensive rehearsal process featuring over 136 hours of voice, movement, text, and technique training, culminating in a professional play performed in at least six live shows for the paying public and invited industry guests.
What to Prepare
Please prepare one contemporary monologue (1–2 minutes). You may optionally prepare a second contrasting piece. Monologues should demonstrate emotional clarity, strong text work, and your capacity for grounded, truthful performance.
Training Options for Applicants
In addition to the ensemble program, we also offer the following weekly classes for actors at different stages of their development:
Youth Acting (Under 16yrs)
Thursdays, 4.30–5.30 pm; ensemble‑based training with weekly audition practice and a mid‑year performance.
What to prepare: Youth applicants will be sent three monologues after booking. Please select one to prepare. The panel will evaluate clarity, emotional truth, focus, and your ability to take direction during the audition.
Film Class ( Ages 16+)
Thursdays, 5.30–8.30 pm; on‑camera craft, script work, and filmed scene review in a supportive, professional environment.

1 on 1 Coaching
Personalised training in text, voice, movement, character work, and audition/self‑tape technique.
What to prepare: Please prepare one contemporary monologue (1–2 minutes). You may optionally prepare a second contrasting piece. Monologues should demonstrate emotional clarity, strong text work, and your capacity for grounded, truthful performance. Applicants interested in personalised coaching may be asked to read a short passage or discuss their training goals during the audition.
