MEET JOSHUA SASSE
Josh has spent his life chasing stories - onstage, onscreen, and now in the rehearsal room. Trained at the Cygnet Training Theatre in Exeter, Joshua began his career on the London stage before moving into an eclectic range of international film and television roles.
From leading ABC’s musical comedy Galavant to starring in The CW’s No Tomorrow, and appearing in projects such as The Big I Am, Frankenstein’s Army, Rogue, The Neighbours, Monarch, Love Is in the Air, and Outrageous, his work has taken him from medieval castles to futuristic worlds, from sweeping romance to absurd comedy.
But teaching has always been part of his artistic north star.
Joshua brings the discipline of classical training and the unpredictability of screen acting together in a way that resonates deeply with emerging performers.
He believes acting is equal parts courage and craft — that good work comes from bold choices, honest impulses, and the willingness to be changed by the scene in front of you. His classes weave technique with imagination, encouraging actors to stretch, risk, experiment, and find the spark that makes them uniquely watchable.
As the main teacher for The Darling Theatre Company, Joshua leads with warmth, humour, and a clear expectation of excellence. He creates a space where actors feel supported to fail gloriously on their way to discovering something new — a rehearsal room where trust is built, ensemble matters, and the work always comes first.
His passion for actor training is central to The Darling Theatre Company’s mission: to build a vibrant, skilled, and courageous artistic community in the Byron Shire. Through his guidance, actors learn not only how to perform, but how to grow — as artists, collaborators, and storytellers.
