Performance & Workshop Requirements

The Darling Theatre Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to providing structured, safe, and enriching performance and workshop experiences for all participants. This policy outlines the expectations for participation, rehearsals, and showcases.

1. Participation Expectations

  • Participants are expected to:

    • Attend all scheduled classes, rehearsals, and workshops promptly

    • Be prepared with the required materials, scripts, costumes, or props

    • Respect fellow participants, staff, and instructors

    • Follow instructions and guidance provided by teaching artists or production staff

  • Absences should be communicated in advance whenever possible.

2. Rehearsal Conduct

  • Rehearsals are professional learning environments where:

    • Participants focus on skill development, collaboration, and ensemble work

    • Safe and age-appropriate behaviours are maintained at all times

    • Physical space, props, costumes, and equipment are treated responsibly

    • Disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behaviours are addressed immediately

3. Showcase and Performance Participation

  • All participants are expected to:

    • Commit to scheduled performance dates, including mid-year and end-of-year showcases

    • Participate fully in technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and final performances

    • Follow performance rules regarding costume, make-up, and backstage conduct

    • Support fellow performers and crew to maintain a positive and collaborative environment

  • Parents and guardians are asked to:

    • Ensure children arrive on time and are collected promptly

    • Respect the backstage and performance environment

4. Safety and Wellbeing

  • Staff will supervise all activities to maintain safe rehearsal and performance spaces

  • Participants must report any injuries, health concerns, or discomfort immediately

  • The company maintains clear procedures for emergency, first aid, and safeguarding

5. Commitment to Growth and Respect

  • The focus of performances and workshops is learning, creativity, and self-expression

  • Every participant is encouraged to engage positively, collaborate, and strive for their personal best

  • Recognition of effort, improvement, and teamwork is valued as highly as technical skill
