Purpose of Photography and Filming

The Darling Theatre Company regularly takes photographs and films footage of rehearsals, workshops, and performances for promotional purposes. These may be captured by Company staff in Marketing or Production, or by external photographers and videographers commissioned by the Company.

This is separate from any filmed material you appear in as part of your training or performance (for example, acting roles within a production).

Photography and filming may cover:

• Rehearsals and performances of public productions

• Workshops, classes, and other educational activities

• Social spaces, backstage areas, and other events, where appropriate

We will inform participants whenever photography or filming is taking place. Images and footage may be shared with those involved prior to publication so that individuals can request removal of any images they are uncomfortable with.

Use of Images and Footage

Images and film footage may be used across The Darling Theatre Company’s channels, including:

• Website and social media

• Print materials such as programs, flyers, and posters

• Email marketing and newsletters

• Displays at Company venues

At times, images or footage may also be provided to third parties, including but not limited to:

• Partner organisations, to promote collaborative projects or performances

• Funders, donors, and corporate partners, to demonstrate the impact of their support

• Higher education and government bodies, to represent the Company’s work

Images or footage may occasionally be provided to media outlets to accompany articles or stories about the Company or its training. Separate consent will always be sought for media use.

Rehearsal and production images may also be shared with students, guest directors, and creatives for professional portfolios and social media, unless otherwise requested.

Copyright

Copyright of images and footage remains with The Darling Theatre Company, except for images taken by external photographers who retain copyright to their work.

Permission for Use

This form asks for your consent to take photographs and film footage of you, and for the use of these materials as outlined above.

This consent remains valid for three years. If you wish to change your permissions at any time, please contact the Marketing Manager.

The Marketing Department will contact any participant who is featured prominently or individually in promotional materials (e.g., program covers, posters, or marketing films) to explain the purpose and audience of the content. Individuals may opt out of such use.

Concerns or Questions

If you have any concerns regarding the use of promotional materials, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Marketing Manager at hello@thedarlingtheatrecompany.com, who will respond within two working days. Where possible, images or footage will be removed upon request, noting that removal may not always be possible if the material is in print or with external organisations.
